Ubud Folkfest 2023
During the three-day event of Ubud Folkfest 2023, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant celebration of Music, Art, and Culture. Alongside captivating music performances, the festival featured live traditional dance showcases, live art painting sessions, an art exhibition, an art market, a record store, and engaging activities for children.
The first day of UFF (Ubud Folkfest) 2023 was enlivened by 9 performers and 2 traditional dances. Not only is Folk music featured, but also World Music and Experimental Traditional Fusion Music. As well as musicians and artists from Bali, there were also performances by many musicians and artists who were invited from outside Bali.
The second day of Ubud Folkfest 2023 opened with a talk show about the music scene and the phenomenon of many large festivals held in Bali after the end of the Pandemic. The talk show featured Rudolf Dethu and Anom Darsana as speakers. It commenced with a captivating screening of the trailer for the film “Pulau Plastik,” highlighting the issue of plastic pollution. Additionally, a video presentation on environmental awareness was led by Gede Robi from Navicula Band. The attendees showed great enthusiasm and actively participated in this engaging talk show.
After the talk show, the two stages at UFF 2023 alternated with performances from ten musicians, and the finale of the day was closed on a high vibe by DJ Cbee’s Hip-hop, Reggae, and Drum n Bass music.
The last day of UFF 2023, opened with free Kids Activities from 10 AM to 4 PM. Some of the free workshops and activities included Shadow Puppet making workshops, bookbinding, wood carving, coloring, making decorations, and face painting for the kids.
At 5 PM, the last day of Ubud Folkfest 2023 opened with a presentation and video screening about Indonesia’s traditional cultural arts in collaboration with installation art and Multimedia visual mapping.
After the presentation and video screening finished, it was followed by the Open Stage Session, which allowed anyone to perform their musical art on stage, that afternoon the Open Stage Session was enlivened by Cellomano, Zoey And Zac, Lyze, and Andy Sixstring. Every performer delivered captivating musical performances, enchanting the festival’s visitors with their talent and leaving a lasting impression.
After the Open Stage Session, the stage was again enlivened by the collaboration of several great musicians who performed extraordinary musical, theatrical, and live painting performances.
Getzhamani, Metallesa, Anda Perdana, Reza Achman, and Agus Salim are the artists behind the “SOULJAM” collaboration, who managed to mesmerise Ubud Folkfest 2023 visitors for 2.5 hours with their collaborative performances.
Following the remarkable performance by SOULJAM, the stage at UFF 2023 was instantly energized by the hip-hop music of ELF Tranzporter, the sole rapper to grace the event with his unique style.
Overall, UFF 2023 went smoothly and amazingly, and we salute UFF for giving space to musicians and for its commitment to providing a platform for talented musicians who may not have achieved widespread recognition yet possess exceptional musical prowess. The festival’s dedication to showcasing such artists is commendable and contributes to the overall success and uniqueness of UFF.
It’s not about how many people come or how many tickets are sold, but the satisfaction of being a platform for quality musicians who are rarely exposed is an honour for the founders and organisers of UFF 2023.
So, a final salute to the Founders and the entire UFF 2023 team. Also, all performances, traditional artists, painting artists, and all market tenants who have participated in Ubud Folkfest 2023.
