Get Plastic has worked with various communities, NGOs, and businesses across Indonesia. They have researched 13 prototypes of pyrolysis machines with a more compact design and more effective and efficient performance.
Environmental damage caused by the increase in plastic waste and the energy crisis is a global problem that threatens the sustainability of human life.
The high demand for products without being accompanied by the awareness of intelligent behaviour accelerates the production of waste leakage.
The solution to plastic pollution is called Get Plastic.
Their vision is to relieve Indonesia of its waste problem. Their principal mission is to research and build plastic pyrolysis devices for plastic waste processing and to educate and aid grassroots communities and innovative campaigns.
The Pyrolysis Machine Innovation
Pyrolysis devices have been widely developed with the dry distillation method in various worlds. This machine does not require oxygen in the heating process, so no smoke is emitted from this process.
The pyrolysis machine developed by Get Plastic is unique in that they strive to build it constantly.
“We currently have a machine design that transforms plastic trash to pyro-diesel 1:1.
We also continue to develop machine innovations for use throughout Indonesia.
And we produce diesel and gasoline, propilin gas, and black carbon residue, which we use to make paving blocks, merchandise, black carbon ink, and other products.”
Milestones
Get Plastic has already completed several successful campaigns and community service projects.
In 2018, they drove 1200 kilometres from Jakarta to Bali on their iconic Vespa, fueled by the pyrolysis machine. They hosted workshops to educate the local community about pollution and their proposed solution.
It’s no surprise that they were honoured with the Museum Record of Indonesia (REKOR MURI) award for their innovative and impactful project. Also, in 2019, Allianz Germany awarded a Social Innovation Fund for plastic waste technologies and innovation. In 2020, they started a 1300 km journey from Bali to Jakarta in a car fueled by plastic waste.
In 2021, they started an automobile excursion from Bali to Labuan Bajo, Flores, using plastic waste fuel.
What is next?
“We want to scale up the sustainable tour by making it longer and more impactful, and by focusing on a different region of Indonesia.”

As an independent organization, we’ve try to build this movement from several partnerships with communities and villages in Indonesia. Get Plastic is a community project spread all over the archipelago, providing an effective solution to plastic waste for local communities.

With your help, we will be able to meet our goal to reach local people throughout our music concert powered by waste fuel. We process tons of plastic waste in each city we visit to convert them into fuel, and we donate pyrolysis machines to local communities. This event will align with the global agenda at the G-20 summit in Bali about the sustainable energy transition.
