Laurence, a renowned French artist and photographer, has gained recognition for her captivating and surreal photographs, which carry a powerful message: “No Nature, No Future.” Her work is characterized by its intense and imaginative quality, inviting viewers to explore a world of artistic depth and emotion.

Flowers are not romantic!

Flowers may cause pain, poison, rot, and stink.

“These images represent the year 2020. It was the first lockdown time, with its moments of fear and anxiety.
To deal with this, I decided to take one photo every day, as creativity is the best therapy.
My days were more structured than they had ever been.
I’ve been meditating, looking for flowers, shooting, composing texts, and uploading my images.
It was a period full of surprises, which taught me to look at my emotions and transform them into art.”

Throughout her life, Laurence has embarked on a journey that has taken her to diverse corners of the globe, including Senegal, Martinique, Southwest France, and Paris, before ultimately finding her current creative haven in the enchanting landscapes of Italy and Bali.

Laurence works with various individuals with whom she naturally connects and then combines flowers, plants and other natural materials to create her collections of photos that are perfectly consistent with her style. Learn more in our interview with Laurence about her art and her idea of No Nature no Future:

What is your message?

My art concerns our link with nature, our connection, our awakening and awareness. Nature is indeed an endless topic.

I prefer to start with romantic flowers in the collective mind to create a meaningful message. Consciousness, spirituality, and quantum physics are all discussed.

As a child, I was fascinated by the infinitely little.

I envision that one day we will be so connected to nature that we will be able to see every molecule of a flower or plant, feel its phosphorescent mark and vibrations that make barely audible music and cure us energetically

Where do you get your ideas from?

First and foremost, in the natural environment.

Surrealism, punk, and quantum physics are all sources of inspiration for me.

My ideas often are channeled visions, occurring from time to time in my meditations.

Since I was a child, I’ve been swinging between two dimensions, and my inspiration comes from a peaceful world filled with magic.

Ma devise est:

No Nature No Future

Your life without art?

It would be sad and without purpose. I would feel empty, erased and incomplete. I think we are here on earth to do and achieve something. To help and assist our next. To spread joy, share knowledge, and interact.

A question that is on your mind right now?

Pollution, as well as the use of plastic as a material. The Green Revolution is unquestionably the next revolution. Current issues include environmental pollution, genetic manipulation, and women’s roles in patriarchal societies.

What artists and pieces of art have captivated you throughout your life?

Dalí’s art, of course—his personality, his visionary side, his paintings made of atoms, and his sculptures.

The work of Bjork, their fairytale and futuristic world @bjork.

The music of The Clash & RadioHead @radiohead.

The novels of Boris Vian, and John Fante.

The vegetal installation of Azuma Makoto @azumamakoto.

The photos of Irving Penn, @the.irving.penn.foundation.

The universe of Cho Gi-Seok @chogiseok, a Korean photographer.

The world of Cedrice Laquieze @cedriclaquieze, who creates galactic warriors from insects.

And, of course, the quantum physics conferences of Nassim Haramein, @nassim.haramein_fr.

What constitutes good art, in your opinion?

Art that affects us, inhabits us, emotionally impacts us, makes us think, and challenges us. It was a period full of surprises, which taught me to look at my emotions and transform them into art.

No nature no future

Where will people be able to see you?

My art is relatively fresh.

I started to do my photography back in 2020, at the onset of the pandemic. I’m looking forward to a fantastic exhibition. Currently, you can see all my works on Instagram @lau_cabantous.

Instagram is a fantastic platform for artists. There are various creative platforms and a community with a slew of digital journals that may help you get a lot of exposure.
